Free comparison tool

Many people start exploring the world of corporate emissions by familiarising themselves with carbon footprints of well known companies.

It's to that end that we are making a free tool available to the general public, which enables anybody to compare two companies on a like-for-like basis.

All it takes is to select two companies and to click "compare" and the following chart and table appear with emission efficiencies, energy consumptions and waste generation:

Other non-profits such as the CDP used to offer this capability to the general public - however:

  • many now require a login and restricts you to a handful searches before reaching your quota
  • it will require you to browse to lots of text to find the performance data somewhere in the response
  • you will next need to look up recent financial results to find the turnover of the companies
  • and finally, you will need to compute the efficiency metrics to get to a first basis for comarison

This is all cumbersome and we have greatly simplified the process using all the information we hold in our database.

Note that for free we expose only a fraction of our full database. We also only expose a Ton CO2/Turnover efficiency - while in fact, each sector has an optimal efficiency metric. Retail for example compares emissions on a Ton CO2/m2 or /ft2, raw materials manufacturing on a per Ton production basis (e.g. cement, steel).

We have these optimal efficiency metrics on our database - contact us if you need information about specific companies.

We hope you find this useful - enjoy!
