New emissions estimation tool

Estimate emissions per operational activity within your company

A new estimation algorithm is now available on our website.

It is based on data published in 2007 by the BERR (Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in the UK) and the Office of National Statistics in the UK. Data from the BERR was computed using:

  • A model from AEA Technology (version of 2005), which has constantly been improved since 1999 with data from industries that have been managing their emissions since over a decade
  • Energy consumption data tracked by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in the UK

This estimation tools breaks down energy usage (and resulting carbon emissions) across main activities, such as:

  • Compressing air
  • Drying & Separation
  • High Temperature Process
  • Low Temperature Process
  • Pumps and machines
  • Motors
  • Refrigeration
  • Heating
  • Lighting
  • Catering
  • Computing
  • Cooling & Ventilation
  • Hot water

The estimation tool works the following way:

  1. Select a sector (out of 25 sectors covered)
  2. Select the country of the electricy provider
  3. Enter the size of the operation

The results are calculated by normalizing the BERR data for the employee numbers and the location of your electricity provider you selected.

Note that this tool is only available to our premium services subscribers.
